Looking for a place to take the kids or pets, go for a run, have an impromptu picnic or BBQ or host a soccer or cricket match with friends on a sunny day? Here’s my list (in no particular order) of some of North Perth’s best local parks and reserves and their facilities.

Auckland/Hobart Street Reserve.  Located on the corner of Auckland and Hobart Streets, I featured this park in my Top 5 local Kids Parks & Playgrounds post in March this year.  It’s without doubt one of my favourite parks for young kids, not the least reason for which is that it has the Hobart Deli across the road.  The park is fully fenced with lots of shade and a good playground but has no toilet or BBQ facilities.

Woodville Reserve. On the corner of Fitzgerald and Farmer Streets, Woodville has an oval and hall that can be hired for sporting events and functions as well as a playground and public toilets.

Kyilla Market

Kyilla Park. You’ll find the Kyilla Community Farmers’ Markets on the grounds of Kyilla Park, on the corner of Clieveden and Hunter Streets, every Saturday morning from 8:30am to 11:30am. Outside of those hours, the park has a great playground, large oval, public toilets, cricket net, drinking fountains and a BBQ.

Les Lilleyman Reserve. One of only two parks with a dog exercise area in North Perth (Charles Veryard is the other), this reserve on the corner of London and Ellesmere Streets has playing fields, a cricket pitch & nets, kids play equipment, a BBQ and public toilets.

Beatty Park Reserve. Adjacent to Beatty Park and great for sporting matches, Beatty Park Reserve has public toilets, a playground, cricket pitch and pavilion available for hire.

Charles Veryard Reserve. North Perth’s largest reserve, between Bourke and Albert Streets, is home to the suburb’s second dog exercise area, large playing fields, a playground, public toilets, cricket pitch and nets and BBQ facilities.  Across  the road from it sits  Smith’s Lake Reserve  with it’s small lake and gardens which makes a pretty spot for photos or a picnic.

Hyde Park

Hyde Park. I know it’s not in North Perth – but North Perth residents on the other side of Vincent Street claim it as their own and consider it their local. Featured in my posts on Top 5 local Kids Parks and Playgrounds and Top 5 local spots for staying cool in Summer, Hyde Park ticks lots of park boxes with a selection of playgrounds, shade, water, BBQ’s, public toilets and gazebo’s – the latter of which you can hire. Dogs are permitted as long as they are on a leash and in Summer the park plays host to the Hyde Park Fair and City of Vincent Summer Concert Series. It’s probably not the best venue for sports, but there are still some stretches of lawn big enough for kids young and old to kick around a ball or chuck a frisbee.
