A significant development with an estimated end value of $188million has been approved for the old Ross’ Salvage Yard site on Railyway Parade in Maylands. The development, called Unison, is being built in two stages by the Finbar Group and at completion, estimated to be in 2017, will comprise 347 apartments and four commercial premises according to their 6 May press release.
Pre-sales of the first stage of the development are expected to commence in June of this year, with construction beginning in 2015.
The development is part of a number of new higher density projects that locals can expect to start seeing in the coming years, as the Bayswater, Bassendean and Stirling Councils look to establish and implement what they call special planning zones and “activity corridors” along major transport routes such as the railway line and Beaufort Street. Lets hope that the State Government responds with the additional public transport services required to support the influx of new residents resulting from these projects.
