Sellers often think that going with smaller furniture, such as a single bed, will make a room appear bigger. IT’S A TRAP!
If a bedroom can comfortably fit a double bed (ie you can still open the doors to the bedroom and wardrobe without hitting it!) then sell it with a double. Never squash the bed against the wall – utilise a bedside table (or two if you can) and lamp, white bedspread, colour coordinate your artwork with the cushions on the bed and voila! Instant makeover.
Not only will your buyers know the room can fit a double bed (instead of trying to guess if it will!) they’ll also know it will easily fit a single or work as study.
PS. Double beds can be cheaply bought off Gumtree or Good Sammy’s and Kmart and Target do a range of cheap lamps and bedside tables. Sorted!
