Inspired by some historical pics of Mt Lawley posted by the Beaufort St Merchant ‘s Facebook Page, I recently got online to check out the City of Vincent Library & Local History Centre online Image Library. Constantly being updated with pics, the Library provides a window into our local suburbs and communities as far back as when photos can be sourced until today. One of the great images I found was the laying of the tramlines at the corner of Beaufort & Walcott Sts (above) as well as this one below of the original diving boards at Beatty Park Pool (anyone remember those?).

Why don’t you have a browse at their website and see what you can find? An old snapshot of your current house or street perhaps? Or better yet, if you or a family member has some old snapshots of the local area, send a copy their way for uploading to the library.
