Ok, I know it’s an American tradition that some people love to hate, but there’s no changing the fact that Aussie kids are now fully into the swing of Halloween.
If you want to be part of the fun there’s now myriad homes (and streets) across our local suburbs that get into the spirt as well as Halloween themed events (free and ticketed) for kids and families to attend. Here’s some of them below.
Trick or Treat!
Like it or not there’s most likely going to be gangs of children (and their parents) wandering down your street coming Halloween Eve. In Inglewood, there are streets, like Stuart and Sexton, where the locals get together and decorate their homes and this year more Inglewood residents are being encouraged to join in (see below):
If you’re not keen on participating in the hijinx turn of your lights, shut your gates and consider printing out and putting up one of these No Trick or Treaters images provided by the WA Police so you don’t get hassled.
Spooks in the Park
Hyde Park, Perth
Spooks in the Park (ticketed event) at Hyde Park is being run by Orienteering WA for kids 6-12 and is the first of its kind in the State. Kids make their way through an interactive adventure course and complete challenges whilst avoiding ghosts, witches and zombies. Tickets are $5.50 each (must be purchased in advance) and include a goody bag for everyone that finishes. Check out the Orienteering WA website for tickets and details.
Maylands Howloween Hawkers Market
The Rise, Eighth Avenue, Maylands
Maylands Hawker’s Market kicks of it’s third season with a Halloween and Hound themed event – Howloween. It’s from 5:00 to 8:00pm so dress the kids (and dog) in costume and head down there after trick or treating for some food and frolics to counteract the sugar rushes (or alternatively, get there early before the sugar filled kids arrive!).
Kidsland Indoor Playground Trick or Treat Party
340 Walcott Street, Coolbinia
If you’re not keen on roaming the streets with your kids you can head to Kidsland Indoor Playground where they’re hosting a kids Trick or Treat Party from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Tickets are $12.50 (pre-sales only so call ahead) which includes a glow stick on entry, unlimited play and door prizes. Adults are free. For more details check out their event page here.
