The City of Vincent is going all out in its efforts to be one of Australia’s most bike friendly councils with its recently announced Bike Network Plan, which includes delivering 10kms of cycling paths and associated infrastructure in the City over the next 18 months. In it’s press release dated 26 Feburary 2014, Vincent Mayor, John Carey is quoted as saying:
“Progressing cycling within Vincent is a top priority for our new Council given our busy inner-city streets and increased density. The Bike Network is a key project over the next 18 months or so – it’s all about creating more liveable neighbourhoods.”
To accompany the launch of the plan the city is hosting a number of events to celebrate bike week, including a Bike Breakfast on the 18th of March from 7:00 to 9:00am at Banks Reserve and a Bike Swap Meet on Saturday the 22nd of March at the Barlee St Carpark on Beaufort St from 10:00am to 1:00pm. They are also offering free Bike Maintenance Sessions (you need to register to attend) for local residents.
