At what point did the the term “Pet Parent” replace “Pet Owner” in marketing lexicon? Probably around the same time pet obsessives started setting up dog and cat day care centres, day spas, bakeries and events!

And following this trend, local pooch parents can take their fur kids to not one, but two doggy focused events these coming months. First up is the Dogtober Beaufort Street Art Market on Sunday the 4th of October at the Barlee Street Carpark to be followed by the Riverside Barkfest at Riverside Gardens in Bayswater on Sunday the 22nd of November. Both events will have stalls with gourmet dog treats, a dog photographer and a dog wash with Barkfest also hosting a dog beach Party and games, gourmet dog food vendors and accessories, vet stalls and community organisations such as dog adoption agencies and animal charities.
