In Part 2 of our spotlight on great local, inner north small bars, we’re going south of Central Ave within close(ish) proximity of Beaufort Street.
Again, we’re struggling between bar & restaurant, small or less small.
But if wine and/or cocktails get equal focus with the food, we’ve erred on the side of including it!
Here are our picks. In no particular order.
1. Vincent Wine
465 William Street,
Perth
If you haven’t yet discovered Vincent Wine (which would only happen if you’ve been deliberately avoiding every Perth food and beverage channel ever), we’re kinda loathed to bring it to your attention. Walk-ins only. Card only. And our preferred long Friday lunch venue since Must has gone. Find them on the corner of Brisbane Street.
458 William Street,
Perth
Less than 50m from Vincent Wine just a fraction further down William Street. Has a dedicated following due to its focus on real food and natural wines of the world. Unpretentious & chilled. Wines are also available takeaway.
3. Le Rebelle
676 Beaufort Street,
Mount Lawley
Small, seductive, popular for date nights. Go for the food. Stay (as long as time limits permit) for the drinks. Order the crab toast. Book or call beforehand to ensure you get a table.
566 Beaufort Street,
Mount Lawley
New management has bought a renewed focus on both the food and the bar. Recommend booking if you’re hoping to stay and dine. Live Jazz most Sundays (check FB for details). Good for groups.
12/760 Beaufort Street,
Mount Lawley
The closest you’ll get to feeling like you’re in Italy right now is Friday & Saturday evening Aperitivo at Trio. Not open evenings Monday to Thursday.
And that’s a wrap on our 5 to try: Small bars.
What about North Perth & Mount Hawthorn I hear you cry! Old Laundry? Lupo Lab? The Cabin?
We know. Sorry. There are too many fab places along & closer to Beaufort Street now to stretch to Fitzgerald and beyond.
We might have to think about Part 3…
