What’s not to love about a bakery? Especially when you walk in to the warm, toasty smells of fresh baked breads, pies, cakes and pastries. Here are 5 of our local faves:
Baker Nic hails from Switzerland and has been serving up his fabulous treats from his corner shop for, well, years! Famous with the locals who love the friendly service, they make arguably Perth’s best pies & tarts but be warned, they sell out fast.
498 William Street,
Highgate
Open Tues to Sun 7am to 4pm
Closed Mondays
A few doors down from The Pearl opposite Hyde Park is relative newcomer but already massively popular Chu Bakery. Check out their Instagram for their daily posts and changing weekend specials. And they do good coffee.
507-509 Beaufort Street,
Highgate
Open 7am to 4pm daily
Now one of four stores, the original MSB is a haven for all things baked and the cafe does a roaring trade at breakfast and lunch. It also produces what I think is Perth’s best gluten free bread. Yum.
Open 7am to 4pm Weds to Sun
These guys have gone from strength to strength since opening their shop front. Their breads (and coffee) are what the locals come for but most end up leaving with a sweet treat or quiche too.
If cakes, pastries and biscuits are your thing and you love a traditional patisserie then Dolcetto is the one for you! They also do a great range of celebration cakes, available in store or to order, for which they are renowned.
And that’s this weeks 5 to try. Have we missed your fave? Got an idea for another 5 to try? Leave us a comment below!
